Annual Reports
Each year we produce a report giving an overview of the science, research and conservation work undertaken in each season, including any visiting organisations, groups or independent researchers. Hard copies of the reports as well as an archive of published literature and media featuring Vigur is available on the island.
vigur research campaign 2021
Highlights of the 2021 season include restoration of the historic boat Vigurbreidur, establishing a bird census to record the variety of species on the island and approximate dates of arrival and departure of each species. Visiting independent researchers explored the impact of tourism on the breeding Arctic tern colony and the Puffin Rally continued monitoring of the puffin population.

Highlights of the work completed in 2022 include the first record of common eider nest data, the introduction of mitigation measures to reduce the impact of visitors on seals and the trial of constructed nesting sites for black guillemot.
Vigur Research Campaign 2023

Highlights of the 2023 season include extending the herbarium and incorporating sea flora, visits from international seabird ecologists and geologists from the Folafotur Geopark Association as well as a continuation of the Black Guillemot nesting site project and annual population count.
